CASE STUDY

Jump Inc

by Julia Ford

Situated at Benyon Park Way, Jump Inc is Leeds’ biggest hybrid mega-park, including a trampoline park and over 6,000 sq ft of inflatable fun for young and old alike! Opening in the spring of 2016 with a revamp and relaunch in June 2019; which saw the business take off to another level, it was brilliant to catch up with some of the Jump Inc team and hear their exciting post pandemic plans.

With trampolines, inflatables, a gaming zone, food and even a cool bar area offering parents the chance to relax with a drink and watch their favourite sport on the TV screens whilst their children play, there is something for everyone and Jump Inc pride themselves on personable, individual customer service. The team have spent much time conducting market research and coming up with prices and packages to draw in as many different ages and groups of people as possible.

They were able to reopen in July 2020 through to the November lockdown and following a slow start, as the summer progressed the popularity of the centre did too, mainly down to customer confidence in the way the staff handled the many hurdles of the pandemic. This has been reflected in the feedback they have received throughout with regards to cleanliness, staff attentiveness and the overall customer experience; and it was clear to see that the customers were at ease upon our visit.

The centre participated in the hugely popular Eat Out to Help Out scheme in the summer of 2020 which proved very successful for them and is an example of their drive to keep the business going as best as they possibly could – but within the government guidelines throughout the pandemic. In terms of finding new and innovative ways to keep themselves fresh and versatile, Jump Inc have also partnered up with countrywide escape room company “Trapp’d” who are now located on the first floor of the centre and boast 4 different escape rooms for customers to try. This has been a real asset to the company and is just another example of their forward thinking plans to keep business thriving.

It was also fantastic to hear of the brilliant work that Jump Inc do to promote health and well-being amongst young people, particularly with schools and youth/sporting groups. A recent string to their bow has been teaming up with The Noise Academy who offer music technology workshops and programmes to young people, offering an alternative way of educating by learning skills such as beatboxing. Programmes were run at the centre meaning the participants were then able to fully immerse themselves in the Jump Inc experience as part of their workshop.

Since re-opening after the 2021 lockdown the centre has been running at 60% capacity in keeping with the government guidelines. Of course, the team are very much looking forward to life returning to normal and being able to welcome more and more people back to Jump Inc, however they will continue forward with the utmost care and caution ensuring the well-being and safety of their customers remains their top priority.

Mark Poole, Jump Inc’s Finance Director, commented

“We hugely appreciate the relationship we have with Towngate and how we feel comfortable in approaching them; knowing we will always receive a helpful and friendly response. This has been especially important to us throughout the pandemic”.
