Towngate Plc. have just completed a 10 year lease deal with Fibrestar Drums to take their 110,000 sq ft industrial property on Newby Road, Hazel Grove, Stockport.

The self contained industrial/warehouse unit is well located on the popular Newby Road Industrial Estate and has good access to the motorway network, Stockport Town Centre and Manchester Airport. The property has been the subject of an extensive refurbishment, which has included an upgrade to the power supply and major roofing works.

John Wignall of Towngate Plc. commented: "We are delighted to be welcoming Fibrestar on board as Tenants and we look forward to working with them. This strategic relocation will I am sure, mark the beginning of a very important and successful period of growth for the Company."

Fibrestar is a North West manufacturer, embarking on a growth drive to new markets and intends to boost its product range. Fibrestar will nearly double its production capacity with the move from Disley to Hazel Grove, which will provide an additional 32,000 sq ft of production space.

Founded in 1949 Fibrestar has 60 staff and has annual sales of around £6m per year. It is the UK's largest manufacturer of fibre drums for the pharmaceutical, food and chemical industries.

Managing director Colin Pardoe commented, "Over the past decade we've led an aggressive product development programme to meet the changing needs of our key markets. As the economic and environmental pressures on our customers continue to grow, we see significant potential to develop markets through the sustainable and lower-cost qualities of fibre drums. The move to new premises is a significant milestone for the business as we gear up for this new phase of growth, delivering some major benefits including cost savings, a more efficient layout and vastly improved access. We're looking forward to moving over with our 60 staff, many of whom have enjoyed long term careers with the business."
