Towngate widens property portfolio following acquisition of residential site

We’ve taken our first steps into the residential market after successfully securing our inaugural residential purchase.

Towngate PLC has taken possession of a 6.4-acre site on Mill Dam Lane in Pontefract, which is perfectly positioned for transport connections and schools and has huge potential for a housing development. Demolition works have recently been completed on the former industrial complex and a further phase of remediation is currently happening to create the development platform.

Up to 80 homes could be built on the site following our successful application for vacant building credits and subsequent planning permission from Wakefield Council.

Discussing the purchase, our property manager Tom Lamb commented: “Close to the M62 and rail network, the site is ideally located, which will be an attractive proposition for any future homeowners.

“We’re delighted to bring this development opportunity to the market. The versatile land has a lot of potential and will be a great project for one of the region’s house building experts.”

The land will be ready for sale in November and we’re hoping for plenty of interest. The plot’s ideal location, which takes in views of Pontefract Castle and is only a stone’s throw from the town centre, should appeal to property developers and homeowners alike.
