Plastics recycling firm OSO moves to new site Copperworks 2

by Julia Ford

Plastic packaging waste recycling specialist OSO Polymers has agreed a 10-year lease on a new headquarters in Leeds, with property lettings specialist Towngate PLC. Work is now underway to prepare the 87,000 sq ft space within the Copperworks 2 site, Haigh Park Road, Stourton, for OSO Polymers’ operations.

The firm will benefit from a newly-refurbished plastics plant, which includes a clear working height of 9.7 meters – and will aid with its reprocessing of plastics to produce general-purpose resins and engineering polymers.

In addition, ground level loading bays will serve the company well in the transfer of waste materials into granules, for use in transformation processes, from extrusion to moulding – an initiative that aligns with Leeds City Council’s vision to increase recycling across the area.

The site benefits from 360° circulation and ample parking, while barrier entry and a secure gatehouse will maximise security at the site.

Tong Shen, director at OSO Polymers, commented on the new warehouse: “We are very pleased to set up our first UK plastic recycling facility in this extensively refurbished premises, on a well-established historical industrial location within Leeds area. I am confident the site and the extremely supportive team of Towngate will meet our business needs well into the future, as OSO continues to grow.”

John Wignall, property director at Brighouse-based Towngate PLC, added: “We are delighted to have facilitated this letting. I have no doubt that OSO will settle well into this prime industrial location – just minutes from the city centre – on the outskirts of Leeds. The site is certainly ideally positioned for this particular industry. “We are also marketing the remaining 180,000 sqft space within Copperworks 2 on the Haigh Park Road site in Stourton, Leeds, and a refurbishment of this historic building is due to take place shortly.”

Leeds-based Gent Visick and Knight Frank acted for Towngate PLC on the Copperworks 2 facility.
