Satellite expansion for North West logistics firm

by Julia Ford

A burgeoning logistics business is opening up a new warehousing facility in Widnes to cater for the growing needs of its clients in the Manchester to Liverpool corridor.

Dukinfield based third party logistics (3PL) company Parker International Ltd is expanding its operations with the lease of a 40,000 square foot storage site at Towngate Business Centre.

The Widnes based warehouse is ideally located for clients, easily accessible from transport links and the M62, and within close proximity of the Port of Liverpool and John Lennon Airport.

The new contract adds to Parker International’s flagship 200,000 square foot warehouse facility at Dukinfield to the east of Manchester.

The company is hoping to expand its existing workforce of 35 as a result of the deal, with the option for growth on the new site and further capacity to manage up to 100,000 square feet of storage.

The new warehouse facility has fully approved and authorised ‘dry bonded’ status from HM Revenue & Customs, which plays a significant role in helping importers improve cash flow management and stock storage.

“Our latest venture into additional satellite hub premises will open up business opportunities for clients who need a stock presence within a 10 mile radius of Widnes and beyond,” explained Parker International director David Brennand.

“We want to replicate the success we have enjoyed with our 200,000 square foot site at Dukinfield and match our growth in e-commerce fulfilment with significantly more warehousing capability.

“Towngate Business Centre is the ideal location, close to North West motorway links, Manchester, Liverpool and of course both the air and sea ports.”

Parker’s new site at Towngate is protected by tall fences and CCTV cameras and a 24 hour manned gatehouse, making it a suitable, highly secure site for all types of industry occupiers.

“More and more of our clients are looking for greater efficiency and ways of reducing costs with better methods of operation,” added Mr Brennand.

“It’s increasingly important that they can rely on us to provide and successfully deliver a comprehensive logistics solution for them.

“Alongside our warehousing and secure storage facilities, Parker International tailors its services to the specific needs of each of our clients, giving them more cost effective e-commerce solutions to improve aspects such as inventory control and catalogue fulfilment for customers.”

Parker International Ltd is a family owned company which offers comprehensive logistics solutions to its clients, including warehousing, transport, freight forwarding, Customs bonded storage and a range of added value services such as the re-working or re-packing of stock. Towngate Business Centre is located on a well established industrial estate just off the A561, the main arterial road link from Liverpool to Widnes. With close and easy connections to the M6, M56, M57 and M62, the property is in an excellent location for distributing to all parts of the country.

Liverpool Airport is 5 miles to the West and the docks at Liverpool and Birkenhead are 10 and 15 miles away respectively. Manchester International Airport, the third busiest in the UK, is 30 miles to the east.
